The Bieszczady National Park, the third biggest national park in Poland, is located in the Pokarpackie Province, on the south-eastern border with Slovakia and Ukraine. Forests take up about 80% of the park’s surface, and in some cases they have preserved their virginal character. The place is scarcely inhabited, with fewer than 1 person per square km living there. The region is very popular with tourists and mountain lovers. It owes this popularity to its unique natural and cultural values.
It also needs to be emphasized that the Bieszczady National Park constitutes a part of the transboundary International Biosphere Reserve of the “Eastern Carpathians” under UNESCO.
